The Make a Difference Conference is an annual event sponsored by Iron Range Youth in Action. Over 500 students from 15 area high schools attend this event to learn how to make a difference in their communities. Each year, we feature a nationally recognized motivational speaker as our keynote speaker. Attendees have their choice of 8 to 10 break-out sessions that they can attend.
The 2010 Conference will feature keynote speaker: Craig Hillier (www.craighillier.com). Craig's approach is fun and upbeat, and he doesn't pretend to have all the answers to all the challenges young people face. However, he does have ideas that can send or keep youth going in a positive direction.
This year's Make A Difference Conference will feature 9 workshops with topics to include:
Welcome To The World - Want to be a Humanitarian?
Going Green - Sweet Eco-Love for the Planet?
Cruisin For A Bruisin - Ipods, Cell Phones, Makeup, and cupcakes. How to avoid the Hospital.
Spread the Word....Spread the Love - Life is as Good as You Make It!
One Slap Too Many-Are You in a Bad Relationship and How Can You Get Out?
The Best Friend You Never Wanted! - How to avoid the Pain of Alcohol & Drug Addiction.
Cyber Bullying - It's Cruel, Vicious and Painful. You Can Help Stop It.
That's Cheap - How to Get the Most Bang for Your BUCK!
Somebody's Watching You - Protect Yourself Against Internet Predators.
The 2010 Make A Difference is sure to be a great day filled with workshops, a national speaker, youth entertainment, great food and a lot of fun. The hope is that each student leaves the conference with a newfound sense of empowerment and hope to be able to go back to their communities and schools and take on projects that MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the lives of others!
