The Ely Community and Youth Recreation Center Project was put together as a partnership between Iron Range Youth in Action and the Ely Parks and Recreation Committee. Youth in Action kids, along with community members, St. Louis County Extension, and Commissioner Mike Forsman weeded beds to prepare for planting. Cook High School and Virginia High School Youth In Action students have begun working with area contractors on the construction of the Cook Youth Recreation Facility/Community Center. This is a community based project with many volunteers.
Currently, the cement slab has been poured and IRYA youth will be removing the form boards from around the new slab on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 8am to 2pm.
Local contractors will be working with area youth and volunteers to build the walls within the week.

The Make a Difference Conference is an annual event sponsored by Iron Range Youth in Action. Over 500 students from 15 area high schools attend this event to learn how to make a difference in their communities. Each year, we feature a nationally recognized motivational speaker as our keynote speaker. Attendees have their choice of 9 break-out sessions that they can attend.
The 2010 Conference will feature keynote speaker: Craig Hillier (www.craighillier.com). Craig's approach is fun and upbeat, and he doesn't pretend to have all the answers to all the challenges young people face. However, he does have ideas that can send or keep youth going in a positive direction.

The Quad Cities Variety Show celebrated its fifth year in production and featured guest appearances and performances by some of the most talented youth from across the Iron Range. The evening full of performances took place on June 1st this year! The evening performances were filled with music, dance, comedy and so much more.
