Adopt A Highway Cleanup

North Woods Iron Range Youth in Action members and the North Woods Student Council are scheduled to clean both of their adopted stretches of Highway north of Cook on Highway 53 on October 7, 2014. Approximately 30 students and chaperones will pick up and bag many bags of debris littering the highway.

Generation W Youth Newspaper

Generation W is a 501c3 non-profit corporation that is staffed by youth and supervised by program coordinators. First published in 2002, it has grown into the largest youth-run newspaper in Minnesota. With a following of over 65,000 readers, it is one of the Iron Range's most circulated publications. Generation W is distributed 5 times yearly in the Mesabi Daily News, the Hibbing Daily Tribune, the Chisholm Tribune, the Cook Timberjay, the Ely Timberjay, and the Tower Timberjay, as well as having copies available at 22 Northern Minnesota high schools and 10 Midwestern colleges and universities. Generation W is often used as curricula in high school communications and social studies classes.
